Most Frequently Asked Questions by Parents/Guardians – and Answers :)

  1. At what age do we accept children into the daycare?

At First Steps, we welcome little ones from the age of 8 months to 3 years! City-subsidized spots are available for children from 1 year of age.

  1. How do the caregivers manage to make all the children sleep?

This question is asked by practically everyone! We understand that putting children to sleep can be stressful for parents/guardians, but there’s no need for any magical methods! Children quickly get accustomed to the daily rhythm that we establish for them. Peer influence has a big impact – children pick up habits from their peers they spend time with.

  1. Can we bring our own toys to the daycare?

During the adaptation period, we actually encourage this. Children feel more comfortable when they have their favorite blanket, stuffed animal, or toy with them. We kindly ask you to label these items. At the end of the day, we always give them back to you.

  1. What time should we bring the child?

Please bring your little one by 9:30 AM, when we start our integration activities and the day together.

  1. Can we bring our child after 9:30 AM?

We recommend bringing your child by 9:30 AM, as we start our activities then. However, if you need to bring them later, please let us know in advance.

  1. What do we need to bring to the daycare?

You can find a detailed list of necessary items in the “About Us: Baby Zone” section.

  1. Is the adaptation period difficult?

Every adaptation can be different! There are always strong emotions involved, but it’s important to remember that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Every child has different needs, and we consider that during the adaptation process at First Steps. Some adaptations last 3 days, others a week – both situations are perfectly okay! You can read more about how to smoothly go through the adaptation in the “About Us: Baby Zone” section.

  1. Do the children eat on their own?

We don’t have specific admission criteria that require a child to eat on their own. While we support children’s independence, we always help with feeding if needed!

  1. Are there additional activities?

Every day, the caregivers conduct activities based on the yearly plan, including sensory, artistic, musical, and physical activities. Additionally, we have an English teacher and a physiotherapist who visit for language and physical development activities once a week in each group.

  1. Can someone other than the legal guardian pick up the child?

You can authorize any adult over the age of 18 to pick up your child. This information should be provided in the information form with your written signature.

  1. My child has a food intolerance – can this be accommodated in the diet?

Certainly! Our catering takes all diets into account – just inform the caregivers.

  1. Do caregivers assist with toilet training?

Of course, we assist in this process. Effective toilet training requires collaboration between us and parents so that the child receives consistent messages and support at home and at daycare.

  1. If my child has a cold or cough, can I bring them to the daycare?

We can only welcome healthy children to our facilities, without any signs of illness. This is a crucial aspect of our cooperation.

  1. What’s the daily schedule?

You can find the detailed daily schedule in the “About Us: Daily Organization” section.
